FUNDING PROJECT
PRATHER LIBRARY
RENOVATION
Prather School has taken many different forms since its inception. Originally built as a junior high school, it later became the early childhood center for GCSD9. Most recently, with the reorganization of the school district, Prather became a Pre K-6 elementary school. As a result, the educational needs of the student population changed. In particular, Prather needed a library. GCAA, along with other groups, was happy to contribute to this cause.
In many ways, this was a perfect project for the alumni association. The project was already in progress when GCAA was contacted. The school district was improving the space's infrastructure. There was a plan in place. But the Prather staff needed to make the space comfortable and exciting for the students. The GCAA membership responded generously, as always. What was once a locker room has now become an inviting learning center. We were proud to help complete this project for the benefit of Granite City students.
